Alfred Eugene Johnson, who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his home. He was born July 2, 1943 in Lavaca, Arkansas to the late Delbert Clyde Johnson and Floy Mae (Hall) Johnson. He was 71 years old. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Johnson and Amel Johnson.
Alfred was a truck driver for David Beneux Trucking Company. He was a Vietnam Army veteran, served in the U.S. National Guard, and was of the Assembly of God faith.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2nd, at Brotherton Funeral Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Darrell Johnson officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, with military honors, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Teague of Ozone; one step-son, Robert Tilden of Ozone; one sister, Anna Vee Swain and husband Melvin of Branch; four brothers, Arlan Johnson of Stockton, California, Bobby Johnson and wife Cathy of Van Buren, Billy Johnson and wife Beth of Charleston, and Claude Johnson and wife Dorothy of Arkoma; two grandchildren, Brandon Teague and Ashley Teague.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Johnson, Jason Johnson, Michael Johnson, Phillip Shield, Randy Studie, and James Jones.
Family will visit with friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
