Aletha Lorene Brown

Aletha Lorene Brown of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Friday, July 17, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on October 15, 1927, in Midland, Arkansas, to the late Judd James Bryan and Lizzie (Allenbaugh) Bryan. She was 98 years old. She was preceded  in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton G. Brown; a granddaughter, Angela Dawn Brown; a sister, Dorothy Mae Hobbs; and a brother, Sonny Bryan.

For 29 years, Aletha was a retired postal clerk for the United States Postal Service. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and working in her yard and flower beds. She was loved by her family very much and she will be missed by all who knew her. Aletha was a long time member of Lavaca Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21st at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Grant Beckham officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by two sons, Greg Brown and wife Susie and Scott Brown and wife Florene, all of Lavaca; a sister, Stella Bean of Midland; (5) grandchildren, Scott McDonald, Jeremy Brown, Heather Winfrey, Justin Brown, and Brandon Brown; (13) great-grandchildren; and (2) great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Scott McDonald, Koby McDonald, Jeremy Brown, Justin Brown, Brandon Brown, and Travis Winfrey.

The family will visit with friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
