Obituary

Alan Douglas "Red" Hice, who resided in the Cox Valley Community, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home. He was born February 16, 1944 in the Driggs Community in Logan County to the late Amos Douglas Hice and Ola Irene (Cox) Hice Harden. He was 69 years old. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Wilda Hice.

Alan worked in the maintenance department for Ace Comb Company in Booneville. He was a 1961 graduate of County Line High School, an avid hunter, fisherman, loved car racing and hot rods, and was a member of Clark Chapel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with the Rev. Vondal Davenport officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, located south of Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gaylon; five sons, Doug Hice and wife Sonia, Martin Hice and wife Kim, Kip Hice and wife Kim, all of the Cox Valley Community, Andy Hice and wife Beth of Charleston, and Quentin Hice of the Cox Valley Community; one sister, Judy Quick and husband Ronnie of the Cox Valley Community; two brothers, Willard Hice and wife Wilda of the Cox Valley Community and Tim Hice of Paris; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Keith Downs, Thomas Daigle, Brian Davenport, Lyndle Thacker, Jamie Bynum, Rick Bynum, Jason Brown, and Paul Sims.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home in Paris.
