Mike Hamby

Mike Hamby of Lavaca, Arkansas, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and God's servant went home to be with God, June 14, 2010. He was born September 6, 1958 in Witchita Falls, Texas to the late Gordon Minshew and the late Frances Minshew Hamby. He was 51 years old.

A graduate of Southside High School, Mike worked in industrial maintenance until a disability forced him into a career change. He learned computer aided mechanical engineering on the job and by studying every night and day at home after works hours, eventually becoming a highly respected porfessional CADD engineer in the plastis industry. He was an inventor, inventing several machines throughout his lifetime for various businesses.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, target shooting, learning new things, playing chess and helping others.

He leaves behind his loving wife and caretaker of 21 years, Jackie Terry Hamby of the home; three daughters, Melisha Hamby, college student of Kansas City, Missouri, Mandy Hamby, assistant caretaker of the home, and Rebecca Hamby, Mike's smile specialist, also of the home; two sons, David Hamby of Lavaca and Jay Hamby, college student of the home, and three grandchildren.
