R. Chris Parks

R. Chris Parks, who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Crawford County, Arkansas. He was born June 13, 1974 in Fort Smith. He was 38 years old.

Chris was an attorney and partner at Ledbetter, Cogbill, Arnold, & Harrison, LLP in Fort Smith. He was a 1992 graduate of Paris High School, a 1996 graduate at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and a 1999 graduate at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

He received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Arkansas Tech University in 1996. He received his Juris Doctorate with honors in 1999 from the University of Arkansas. He was admitted to the Arkansas and Oklahoma Bars in 1999. He was a member of the Sebastian County, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and American Bar Associations and was the President of the Sebastian County Bar Association in 2005-2006. Chris was also Vice-President in 2004-2005 and Secretary/Treasurer 2003-2004. He was also a supporter and volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, Arkansas Sheriff's Association, and United Way.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11th, at First Baptist Church in Paris, with Rev. Chris Moore officiating. Burial will be at Baxley Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home; twin daughters, Grace and Emma, of the home; his father and step-mother, Bob and Sherrie Parks of Paris; his mother and step-father, Virginia and Jeff Brown of Moore, Oklahoma; one sister, Serena Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Alice Parks of Paris; and his father and mother-in-law, Tim and Vicki Brown of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be John Barnes, Craig Schultes, Justin Iames, Kent Reading, Jeremy Kirkwood, and Scott Houston.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
